Here is a quick comparison of the main ways to disable the developer option in vivo so you can choose the one that fits your needs.

| Toggle off the developer options switch | No (menu stays visible) | Quickly disabling developer mode while keeping easy access later |
| Clear data of the Settings app | Yes | Removing the menu completely from the settings screen |
| Restore all settings | Yes | Hiding the menu without touching personal data or media |
| Factory reset (last resort) | Yes | Selling or handing over the phone, or when nothing else works |
Step-by-step methods to disable developer options in vivo
Method 1: Turn off the developer options switch
This is the fastest way to disable developer mode on a vivo phone. It switches off all developer features instantly, although the menu itself stays visible so you can turn it back on later if needed.
- Open the Settings app on your vivo phone.
- Scroll down and tap More settings (Funtouch OS) or System management (OriginOS).
- Tap Developer options to open the menu.
- At the very top, turn off the master toggle for Developer options.
- Tap OK or Turn off to confirm. Developer mode is now disabled.
This method does not change any other setting and can be reversed instantly by switching the toggle back on.
Method 2: Clear the Settings app data to hide the menu
If you want the developer options menu to disappear from settings altogether, clearing the data of the Settings app will remove it. Note that this may also reset some general settings app preferences.
- Open Settings and go to Apps or App manager.
- Tap the three-dot menu or the filter option and choose Show system apps or Show system processes.
- Find and tap Settings from the list of apps.
- Tap Storage usage or Storage.
- Tap Clear data, then confirm with OK.
- Restart your phone. The Developer options menu will no longer appear in settings.
To bring developer options back, simply tap the build number seven times again in About phone or About device.
Method 3: Restore all settings (no data loss)
Restoring all settings hides the developer options menu and resets your phone’s system settings to default, without deleting any photos, contacts, apps, or media. This is the safest way to hide the menu completely.
- Open the Settings app on your vivo phone.
- Tap System management or More settings.
- Tap Backup and reset.
- Select Reset all settings or Restore all settings.
- Enter your screen lock PIN or password if prompted, then confirm.
Once the phone finishes, the developer options menu will be hidden.
Keep in mind that this also resets preferences such as Wi-Fi networks, display, sound, and notification settings, so you may need to set a few of those again.
Method 4: Factory reset (last resort)
A factory reset removes developer options along with everything else on the phone. Use this only if you are selling or giving away the device, or if no other method works. Back up your data first, because this method erases all your files.
- Back up your photos, contacts, and apps to vivo Cloud or your Google account.
- Open Settings and tap System management or More settings.
- Tap Backup and reset, then choose Erase all data or Factory data reset.
- Confirm your choice and enter your PIN or password.
- Wait for the phone to reset and restart, then set it up fresh.
After a factory reset, developer options will be hidden until you choose to enable it again.
