What is PMAY Vadodara?
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in Vadodara is the city-level implementation of the central government's 'Housing for All' programme. The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC), working alongside the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee, administers the scheme locally, overseeing construction, beneficiary selection, and fund disbursement.
The VMC has received approval to construct 190 houses and 74 shops across two sites in the Subhanpura area: 102 houses and 40 shops at one plot, and the remaining 88 flats and 34 shops at a second plot in the Subhanpura area. The total project cost is Rs. 15.09 crore. Each unit comes with a carpet area of 35 sq. mt., two rooms, and a kitchen — which, while compact, represents a significant step up for families currently living in inadequate or rented accommodation.
What are the benefits of PMAY Vadodara?
Under PMAY 2.0 for urban areas, the scheme offers:
| Benefit | Details |
|---|---|
| Financial assistance | Up to Rs. 2.50 lakh per unit for EWS beneficiaries under BLC/AHP verticals; up to Rs. 1.80 lakh interest subsidy under the Interest Subsidy Scheme (ISS) for home loan borrowers |
| Priority allocation | Women, senior citizens, SC/ST, backward classes, minorities, persons with disabilities, and transgenders are given priority |
| Women ownership | Mandatory for LIG and EWS beneficiaries — helping widows and women own property independently |
| Disabled and senior citizen access | Priority allocation and ground floor accommodation mandatorily provided |

How does PMAY 2.0 differ from the earlier PMAY scheme for Vadodara beneficiaries?
PMAY 2.0, launched in September 2024 and running through 2029, provides financial assistance of up to Rs. 2.50 lakh per unit for EWS urban families under BLC/AHP verticals, and up to Rs. 1.80 lakh as an interest subsidy under the ISS for home loan borrowers. The earlier CLSS subsidy framework (which offered up to Rs. 2.67 lakh for EWS/LIG borrowers) had various category-specific deadlines that have now passed. Under PMAY 2.0, the MIG income ceiling has also been revised down to Rs. 9 lakh per annum, from the Rs. 18 lakh ceiling that applied under the old MIG II category. Under PMAY 2.0, the focus is on EWS, LIG, and MIG households within these updated income bands. Check the official PMAY portal or contact a PMAY-empanelled lender for the current applicable subsidy structure specific to your income category.
Is women's ownership mandatory under PMAY Vadodara?
Yes. For EWS and LIG beneficiaries, the property must be registered either solely in the female head of household's name or jointly. This is a mandatory provision aimed at promoting women's property ownership and financial security.
Can I combine a PMAY subsidy with a Bajaj Finance Home Loan?
Yes. PMAY assistance works specifically through a home loan from a PMAY-empanelled lender. Apply for the home loan and declare your PMAY eligibility; the lender processes both simultaneously. Bajaj Finance offers home loans from 7.25% p.a.* with amounts up to Rs. 15 Crore* and tenures up to 32 years. Check your eligibility today.
