You can save for your retirement by making monthly contributions from your salary to the Employee’ Provident Fund (EPF) Scheme, where your employer contributes to your account too, therefore multiplying your savings. Governed by the Employee’s Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), accessing your EPF account is easy, as you can access your account online and transfer the money as well.

However, in order to avail these benefits, updating your KYC details is a must. The EPFO has made it mandatory for you to link your Aadhaar card with your UAN number in this regard. UAN is your Universal Account Number, allotted to you by the EPFO. So, in order to complete this procedure, look at the two ways you can link your Aadhaar card to your EPF account.

Online method

- Visit the EPFO website.
- Log in with your UAN.
- Add your KYC details in the ‘KYC’ section nested in the ‘Manage’ section.
- Click on ‘Aadhaar’ in the KYC documents list.
- Enter your Aadhaar number and name as mentioned on your Aadhaar card and click on the ‘Save’ option.
- After you have saved the details, your Aadhaar number will be verified as per UIDAI’s (Unique Identification Authority of India) data as well as with your employer.

Offline method

The EPFO also has provisions to help you link your Aadhaar card to your EPF account offline, by visiting the EPF office nearest to you. If you are not aware of the location of your nearest EPFO office, a simple search online will give you the address. Take a look at the steps that you need to follow.

- Ask for the Aadhaar Seeding Application Form at the EPFO and fill in the details.
- Enter the UAN and Aadhaar number along with other details such as your name, father’s name and bank account number.
- Once you have filled the details, attach self-attested copies of your PAN card and Aadhaar card to the form.
- Submit your application to the EPFO office.
- Once your Aadhaar is linked to your PF account, you will receive a text message on your registered mobile number confirming the same.

Linking your Aadhaar number to your PF account is beneficial as it allows transparency and makes accessing your PF significantly more convenient. So, choose from the two methods as per your convenience and link your Aadhaar card details to your EPF account as soon as possible.
