Eligibility exclusions for PM Internship Scheme

  • Graduates from Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), National Law Universities (NLUs), Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs), National Institutes of Design (NIDs), and Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) are not eligible.
  • Applicants holding professional qualifications such as Chartered Accountant (CA), Cost and Management Accountant (CMA), Company Secretary (CS), MBBS, BDS, MBA, or any Master’s degree or higher qualification are not eligible.
  • Applicants currently undergoing any skill development, apprenticeship, internship, or student training programme under any Central Government or State Government scheme are not eligible.
  • Applicants who have completed apprenticeship or training under the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) or the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) at any time are not eligible.
  • Applicants are not eligible if the annual income of any family member exceeds ₹8,00,000.
  • Applicants are not eligible if any family member is a permanent or regular government employee.

Note (for the purposes of the Pilot Project):

  • “Family” refers to the applicant, parents, and spouse.
  • “Government” refers to the Central Government, State Governments, Union Territory administrations, Central and State Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), statutory organisations, and local bodies.
  • “Employee” refers to regular or permanent employees and does not include contractual employees.

Benefits of PM Internship Scheme

  • Twelve months of practical, real-world experience in leading companies across India.
  • Monthly financial assistance of Rs. 4,500 provided by the Government of India and Rs. 500 contributed by the industry partner.
  • A one-time grant of Rs. 6,000 to cover incidental expenses.
  •  Insurance coverage for each intern under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, provided by the Government of India.

Note 1: Monthly financial assistance shall be paid to interns for the full duration of the twelve-month internship.

PM Internship Scheme registration

  • Go to the PM Internship Scheme website.
  • On the homepage, click the ‘Youth Registration’ button.
  • A box will pop up. Enter your mobile number, tick the confirmation box, and click ‘Submit.’
  • You will get an OTP on your mobile. Enter the OTP in the box provided and click ‘Submit.’
  • Create a new password for your account, type it again to confirm, then click ‘Submit.’
  • After your password is set, your registration is complete. You can now log in and apply for internships through the PM Internship Scheme.

Steps to apply for PM Internship Scheme online

  • Visit the PM Internship Scheme website. Click on ‘Login’ and enter your username and password to access your account.
  • After logging in, click on the ‘My Current Status’ tab. Complete your profile by filling in all required sections such as eKYC, personal details, contact info, education, bank details, skills, and languages.
  • Once your profile is complete, click on the ‘Internship Opportunity’ tab. You will see a list of available internships. Use the filter options to narrow down your choices and apply for up to 3 internships you prefer.
  • When you find an internship you like, click ‘View’ to see the full details.
  • If the internship matches your interests, click the ‘Apply’ button.
  • A confirmation pop-up will appear asking, ‘Are you sure you want to apply for this internship?’ Click ‘Ok’ to continue.
  • Another pop-up will ask you 3 short questions. Enter your answers and click ‘Apply.’
  • You will then see a declaration and consent form. Tick all the checkboxes (this is mandatory) and click ‘Submit.’
  • Your application will be sent to the companies involved. They will review and shortlist candidates based on qualifications and requirements.
  • If shortlisted, you may be invited for an online interview or another assessment.
