Try the methods below in order. In most cases, Safe Mode can be turned off using a simple restart.
Method 1: Restart your vivo phone (recommended)
A restart is the quickest and most effective way to exit Safe Mode.
Steps:
- Press and hold the Power button for a few seconds.
- When the power menu appears, tap Restart (or Reboot).
- If only Power off is visible, tap it and wait for the phone to shut down completely.
- Press the Power button again to turn the phone back on.
- Do not press any other buttons during startup.
Once the home screen appears, Safe Mode should be turned off.
Method 2: Turn off Safe Mode from the notification panel
Some vivo phones allow you to exit Safe Mode directly from a notification.
Steps:
- Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the notification panel.
- Look for a message like “Safe mode is on” or “Safe mode enabled”.
- Tap the notification.
- Confirm Restart or Turn off when prompted.
- The phone will reboot into normal mode.
Method 3: Use the Power and Volume button combination
Use this method if the phone is unresponsive or the first method does not work.
Steps:
- Press and hold the Power button until the phone switches off.
- Wait for about 30 seconds.
- Press and hold the Power button and Volume Up button together.
- Release both buttons when the vivo logo appears.
- Let the phone boot normally and avoid pressing Volume Down.
Method 4: Remove the problematic third-party app
A recently installed app may be causing Safe Mode to trigger repeatedly.
Steps:
- Identify any app installed or updated just before the issue started.
- Long-press the app icon and tap Uninstall.
- Alternatively, go to Settings > App management > App list, select the app, and uninstall it.
- Restart the phone and check if Safe Mode is disabled.
Method 5: Clear app cache and data
If you want to keep the app, clearing its data may help.
Steps:
- Open Settings > App management > App list.
- Select the suspected app.
- Tap Storage usage.
- Tap Clear cache, then Clear data.
- Restart the phone.
Method 6: Factory reset (last resort)
A factory reset should only be used if nothing else works.
Important: This will erase all data, apps, and settings. Take a backup before proceeding.
Steps:
- Open Settings > System management (or General settings).
- Tap Backup and reset.
- Select Erase all data (factory reset).
- Confirm the action.
- Wait for the phone to reboot and complete setup.
If Safe Mode still persists after a reset, it may indicate a hardware issue such as a stuck Volume button. In that case, an authorised vivo service centre is recommended.
