Frequently asked questions on PMAY Gramin list
To find out whether your name is listed, go to the official PMAY-G website and open the ‘AwaasSoft’ section. From there, choose ‘Reports’ and then select ‘Social Audit Reports’. Click on ‘Beneficiary Details for Verification’ and enter your state, district, block, and gram panchayat. Select the financial year 2025–26 and the PMAY-G scheme. The list will appear on screen, and you can also download it for future reference.
If your name does not appear despite being eligible, it could mean your details were not recorded during the Awaas+ survey or are still under review. You should contact your Gram Panchayat office or Block Development Officer to confirm your status. If you have not been registered yet, you must wait for the next official survey, as individuals cannot directly add their names online.
Eligibility mainly depends on data from the SECC 2011 and the updated Awaas+ 2024 survey. Preference is given to families without a house or those living in kutcha homes with weak walls or roofs. Priority groups include SC/ST households, minorities, and persons with disabilities. The household should not own certain assets or have a monthly income above Rs. 15,000 to qualify.
Under the scheme, beneficiaries in plain regions receive Rs. 1.20 lakh, while those in hilly or difficult areas are given Rs. 1.30 lakh for house construction. In addition, beneficiaries can earn wages for 90 to 95 days of unskilled work under MGNREGA, adding roughly Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 25,000. A further Rs. 12,000 is provided for building a toilet under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
At present, individuals cannot directly apply for PMAY-G through an online portal. The process is managed by local authorities who identify eligible households through surveys like Awaas+. After the survey, the Gram Sabha verifies the list of beneficiaries. If you believe you qualify, you should contact your local ward member or Gram Pradhan to ensure your details are recorded during the survey process.
The Awaas+ survey was introduced to include families who were left out of the earlier SECC 2011 data. For the 2025–26 cycle, the updated Awaas+ 2024 survey plays a key role in identifying new beneficiaries. Officials collect details through a mobile app and capture geotagged photos of homes. Only verified households approved by the Gram Sabha are added to the final beneficiary list.
Payments under PMAY-G are given in stages rather than as a single amount. Once approved, the first instalment is released for starting construction. Further payments are made as the house reaches different stages like plinth, lintel, and roof. Officials verify each stage with geotagged images. The funds are directly transferred to the beneficiary’s Aadhaar-linked bank account through the DBT system for transparency.
If selected, you must provide important documents such as your Aadhaar Card, bank passbook linked to Aadhaar, and an active mobile number. You may also need to submit an affidavit confirming you do not own a pucca house. If applicable, a caste certificate is required. Additionally, your MGNREGA job card details must be provided to receive labour-related benefits.
A ‘Pending’ status usually indicates that your verification process is incomplete, such as missing documents or unfinished site checks. A ‘Sent for Rejection’ status suggests that discrepancies were found, like owning a pucca house or having ineligible assets. If you feel this decision is incorrect, you can appeal to the concerned authorities at the block or district level for reconsideration.
The scheme sets a minimum house size of 25 square metres, including space for cooking. While the financial support is fixed for this size, you are free to build a larger home using your own funds. You may also explore institutional finance options of up to Rs. 70,000 at subsidised rates if you wish to expand beyond the basic structure provided under PMAY-G.
