Travel
Your travel cost depends on where you start. Travelling by train or bus can reduce the cost compared with hiring a private cab.
If you travel from Bengaluru, current 2026 route guides place the road distance at around 340–350 km, with road journeys taking about 6–7 hours. Bus fares can start from around Rs. 500, while a private taxi can cost several thousand rupees.
If you travel by train, you can reach Hosapete Junction and then take local transport for the remaining distance to Hampi.
Accommodation
You can choose between budget guesthouses, homestays, hotels and higher-category properties in and around Hampi and Hospet.
For a 2-night stay, keep around Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 4,000 per person when sharing a room. Prices can increase during weekends, festivals and popular travel periods.
Food
You can manage food costs by combining local restaurants, cafés and simple meals.

Sharing a cab or auto with other travellers can reduce your per-person cost.
Activities and entry fees
Many of Hampi's heritage areas can be explored without major ticket costs, while selected monuments have entry charges. Karnataka Tourism lists the Vijaya Vittala Temple among the ticketed monuments, with the Indian visitor fee currently around Rs. 40, subject to change.
You can also budget separately for activities such as cycling, guided walks or a coracle ride.
