1. What is an E-Aadhaar card

E- Aadhaar is a password protected digital version of the Aadhaar card. According to the Aadhaar Act, E-Aadhaar is as good as a physical Aadhaar card. You can download your E-Aadhaar by entering either your Aadhaar number or your enrollment number from the UIDAI website through these steps -

- Visit the UIDAI website - https://uidai.gov.in/ and click on 'download Aadhaar' service.

- Enter your enrollment or Aadhaar number.

- Enter your full name and pin code.

- Click on ‘Get OTP’ link. This will send the OTP to your registered mobile number.

- Enter the OTP and download the E-Aadhaar.

- This will be a PDF file. Enter the first four letters of your name in Capitals and your birth year (YYYY format) as a password to this file.

2. Benefits and Services of E-Aadhaar card

E-Aadhaar card is the electronic form of the Aadhaar card, hence you can it access it at all times. You need not carry your Aadhaar everywhere. As the E-Aadhaar is password protected, it is safe. Moreover, since it is virtually stored, it cannot be misplaced or mishandled.

3. Information available on your E-Aadhaar card

E-Aadhaar card is a valid proof of address and identity, digitally certified by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). All data printed on the physical Aadhaar copy is also available on the E-Aadhaar card.

4. How can I access my E-Aadhaar card

You can access your E-Aadhaar anytime and anywhere by entering your login details such as the password in your downloaded PDF file. As such, you no longer need to carry the physical Aadhaar card.
