What is a two-wheeler loan EMI calculator?
A two-wheeler loan EMI calculator is a free online tool that works out the Equated Monthly Instalment (EMI) you would pay on a bike or scooter loan: the fixed amount you repay every month. It gives you the figure in seconds, before you apply, so you can check affordability and plan your budget with real numbers.
What you enter
- Vehicle price: select the brand, model and variant, which sets the on-road price of your bike or scooter.
- Down payment: the amount you pay upfront, which reduces how much you need to borrow.
- Interest rate: the annual rate offered to you, entered as a percentage.
- Tenure: the repayment period you choose, from 6 months to 84 months.
What you get
- Monthly EMI
- Principal (loan) amount after the down payment
- Total interest payable
- Total amount payable over the tenure
- A month-by-month repayment schedule
Each EMI has two parts: principal, which repays the amount you borrowed, and interest, the cost of borrowing. That is why your total repayment is always higher than the loan amount. For other types of loans, you can use the general EMI calculator.
You can check your eligibility online to understand the loan amount and terms that may be available to you.
How do you use the bike loan EMI calculator?
-
You can estimate the EMI on your two-wheeler loan in under a minute, in five simple steps:
- Select the brand, model and variant of the bike or scooter you want to buy.
- Enter the down payment you plan to make; the calculator deducts it from the vehicle price.
- Set the annual interest rate using the slider or by typing it in.
- Choose a repayment tenure between 6 and 84 months.
- Read your monthly EMI, principal, total interest and total amount payable, or open the repayment schedule.
Scenarios worth trying
Try different combinations on the two-wheeler loan EMI calculator before you visit the dealer. Change one input at a time so you can see exactly how it affects your EMI:
- Raise the down payment and see how much the EMI and total interest fall.
- Shorten the tenure to see the interest you would save.
- Lengthen the tenure if the EMI is too high, then check the extra interest.
- Change the rate by 1–2 percentage points to see how sensitive your EMI is.
Which price should you enter: ex-showroom or on-road?
Enter the on-road price, because that is what you actually pay and what your loan is based on. Bajaj Finance can finance up to 24.25% of the on-road price, subject to eligibility, so using the ex-showroom price will understate your loan amount and EMI.
The on-road price you enter in the two-wheeler loan EMI calculator is made up of these costs:
Component
What it covers
Ex-showroom price
Price of the vehicle at the dealership, including GST
RTO registration
Registration fee and road tax charged by your state transport department
Insurance
Third-party cover, mandatory under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, usually bought along with own-damage cover; dealers include it in the on-road price
Accessories and other charges
Optional accessories, extended warranty or handling charges, if any; they raise the price you finance
GST on two-wheelers from 22 September 2025
GST is built into the ex-showroom price, so the slab your vehicle falls in changes the amount you finance. After the 56th GST Council meeting, the rates are:

GST rates on two-wheelers after the 56th GST Council meeting
For most bikes and scooters up to 350cc, the lower GST reduced ex-showroom prices, so the loan amount and EMI for the same model fell; bikes above 350cc became costlier. For example, a 400cc motorcycle with an on-road price of about Rs. 3.5 lakh, bought with Rs. 50,000 down and a Rs. 3 lakh loan over 48 months at an illustrative 12% per annum, has an EMI of about Rs. 7,900. Running the calculator before booking shows you how the 40% slab affects the price and EMI. Popular 350cc models such as the Royal Enfield Classic 350 fall in the 18% slab; planning a premium bike? See financing for models such as the Kawasaki Z650 and BMW bikes.
Electric two-wheeler buyers should also check whether any central or state purchase incentives apply, such as under the PM E-DRIVE scheme, as these reduce the price you finance.

Which factors change your bike loan EMI?
Your two-wheeler loan EMI mainly depends on the loan amount, tenure, interest rate and down payment, with your credit profile shaping the rate you are offered. Understanding these factors helps you choose repayment terms that fit your monthly budget and is the simplest way to reduce your bike loan EMI without stretching it.
Here is how changing each input affects your loan:
Factor | Effect on EMI | What this means for you |
Loan amount | Higher amount, higher EMI | Borrow only what you can repay comfortably. |
Loan tenure | Longer tenure, lower EMI | Compare the EMI and total repayment before choosing. |
Interest rate | Higher rate, higher EMI | Your rate depends on your eligibility and credit profile. |
Down payment | Larger down payment, smaller loan and lower EMI | Keep enough aside for essential expenses and emergencies. |

Factors at a glance
Loan amount
The more you borrow, the higher your EMI and the total interest you pay. A costlier model, or one in a higher GST slab, means a bigger loan and EMI. Borrow only what you need within the Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 21 lakh range, rather than the maximum you may qualify for.
Down payment and financing share
More money paid as down payment for a bike loan decreases the loan amount, hence decreases EMI and interest payable. Bajaj Finance gives loans from 24.25% of on-road price depending on your eligibility, therefore, you can buy your bike with zero down payment or with less amount. An additional down payment of Rs. 10,000 - 20,000 will considerably reduce interest, but ensure you do not touch your emergency fund.
For example, Rohan, a salaried employee in Pune, picks a 125cc bike with an on-road price of Rs. 1.1 lakh. With a loan for the full amount at an illustrative 12% per annum over 36 months, his EMI is about Rs. 3,654. If he pays Rs. 20,000 down, the EMI drops to about Rs. 2,989 and total interest falls from about Rs. 21,529 to Rs. 17,614.
Loan tenure and total interest
You can choose a repayment period of 6 months to 84 months. A longer tenure lowers your EMI but adds more interest over the life of the loan, while a shorter one raises the EMI but cuts the total cost. The lowest EMI is not always the best choice: compare both figures before you decide, and avoid a loan that runs longer than you plan to own the bike.
This table shows how tenure changes the EMI and total cost on a loan of Rs. 1,00,000 at an illustrative interest rate of 12% p.a.:

Interest rate and credit profileYour bike loan interest rate depends on your CIBIL score, repayment history, income, employment, loan amount and tenure. Even a small difference in the rate changes both your EMI and the total amount you repay: on Rs. 1 lakh over 36 months, the EMI is about Rs. 3,321 at 12% and Rs. 3,516 at 16%, a difference of about Rs. 7,000 over the loan. Bajaj Finance requires a minimum CIBIL score of 600, and applicants with no credit history may also be considered. Check your credit report before applying; clearing overdues and fixing errors can improve the rate you are offered.
What interest rate and fees apply to a two-wheeler loan?
-
The interest rate is one of the main factors that determines your EMI and total repayment: a lower rate makes the loan more affordable, while a higher rate increases both the monthly EMI and the overall borrowing cost. The two-wheeler loan interest rate at Bajaj Finance goes up to 24.25% per annum, and the exact rate offered to you depends on:
- Credit score
- Repayment history
- Income profile
- Employment details
- Loan amount
- Selected tenure
- Bajaj Finance credit policy

How does the EMI work out on a Rs. 1.2 lakh scooter?
Anjali Verma, 26, is an accounts executive in Nagpur who earns Rs. 35,000 a month and has a CIBIL score of 740. Before visiting the dealer, she checks the EMI on a Rs. 1,20,000 scooter using the two-wheeler loan EMI calculator.
Assumptions
On road price of 125cc Scooter: Rs 1,20,000
Down Payment: Rs 12,000 (10%), hence loan amount will be Rs 1,08,000
Interest Rate: 12% p.a. on reducing balance
Loan period: 36 months (processing charges and others not included)
Calculation
1. Monthly interest rate = R = 12 ÷ 12 ÷ 100 = 0.01; N = 36 months.
2. EMI = 1,08,000 × 0.01 × (1.01)^36 ÷ ((1.01)^36 – 1) = 1,08,000 × 0.01 × 1.4308 ÷ 0.4308 ≈ Rs. 3,587 (EMI estimation).
3. Total payment is approximately Rs. 1,29,137 out of which interest is approximately Rs. 21,137.
What this means
Benchmark: The EMI of about Rs. 3,587 is around 10% of Anjali’s monthly income, which would give enough space for her other expenditures.
Trade-off: If Anjali extends the period up to 48 months, then EMI will be about Rs. 2,844, but there will be a total interest expense of Rs. 7,378, whereas a down payment of Rs. 30,000 will decrease the EMI to Rs. 2,989 for a period of 36 months.
Limitation: The above amounts are just approximate as the rate at which Anjali would get a loan depends on her credit standing and the assessment made by Bajaj Finance.

How do you apply for a two-wheeler loan online?
Once the EMI on the two-wheeler loan EMI calculator fits your budget, you can apply in five steps:
- Check your eligibility: see if you have a pre-approved offer or confirm your eligibility online with your mobile number and OTP.
- Choose your vehicle: select the bike or scooter you want and the nearest Bajaj Finance partner dealer.
- Apply online: click 'Apply Now' and fill in the bike loan online form with your name, PAN and basic details, or apply through the dealer.
- Complete documentation: if you are eligible, you receive an eligibility letter or a call from a Bajaj Finance representative; share your documents, e-sign the loan agreement and set up the NACH mandate for EMIs.
- Get your vehicle: the loan is disbursed to the dealer, and your two-wheeler is registered with the hypothecation noted on its RC.
You can also browse two-wheelers on Bajaj Mall, compare scooters, and read about buying a two-wheeler on EMI or the complete bike loan guide.
Stay safe when you apply
- Apply only through the Bajaj Finance website, app or partner dealer.
- Never pay any fee to a personal account to 'release' a loan.
- Report fraud on 1930 or cybercrime.gov.in.
Prepay or foreclose a two-wheeler loan
You can make a bike loan prepayment, in part or in full, once you have paid your first EMI. Bajaj Finance charges up to 4.72% (inclusive of taxes) on the amount prepaid or outstanding. After full closure, collect your NOC promptly and get the hypothecation removed from your RC through the RTO; you need a clean registration certificate to sell or transfer the vehicle.
How do you pay your monthly EMIs?
Your bike loan EMI is usually collected automatically, but you have a few ways to pay:
- Auto-debit: the NACH mandate deducts the EMI from your bank account on each due date; keep enough balance in the mandate account and set the due date after your salary or main income date to reduce the chance of a bounce.
- Online: pay through the Bajaj Finance app or the Pay EMIs page if you need to pay manually.
- Missed payment: a bounced EMI attracts a charge of up to 36%, and delays add a penal charge of 36% per annum per instalment.
Part-prepayment or foreclosure: which saves more?
Foreclosure saves the most interest because it ends the loan, but it needs the largest lump sum. Part-prepayment suits you if you have spare funds but want to keep the loan running.
Re-run the two-wheeler loan EMI calculator with your reduced balance to compare these options:
Option | What changes | When it suits you |
Part-prepay and keep the tenure | EMI goes down | You want a lower monthly outflow |
Part-prepay and keep the EMI | Tenure gets shorter | You want to save more interest |
Full foreclosure | Loan closes | You have the full outstanding amount |
Prepay only when the interest you save is more than the two-wheeler loan foreclosure charges of up to 4.72%, which is most likely early in the tenure.

What are the benefits of using a two-wheeler loan EMI calculator?
A two-wheeler loan EMI calculator helps you understand your repayment commitment before you apply, so you can commit to a bike or scooter only when the loan fits your monthly budget. Here are the main benefits of using it:
-
1. Get an instant EMI estimate
The calculator estimates your monthly instalment in seconds from the bike price or loan amount, down payment, interest rate and repayment tenure. You do not need to calculate the EMI manually. How it helps: saves time and reduces the chance of calculation errors.
2. Plan your monthly budget
The estimated EMI helps you know whether you can afford the repayments. Compare the EMI to your:
- Income per month
- Necessary costs at home
- Other loan repayments
- Saving plans
- Emergency savings
How it helps: It prevents you from choosing an EMI that will be hard to manage. Start with an EMI you can easily afford, then choose the model and tenure. Save some of your money for future expenses, rather than using it all for the down payment.
3. Compare different loan options
The amount of the loan, down payment, term of the loan, and the interest rate can be modified to see the difference in payments. The term of the loan will have an effect on the monthly payment, since the longer the term of the loan, the smaller the monthly payment, while a shorter term of the loan will mean less paid interest.
4. Understand the total loan cost
The calculator gives you the total interest as well as the repayment amount, giving you an idea of how much you will pay as interest on your loan for the selected tenure. Two plans with the same EMI can vary greatly in their total interest amount. How it helps: More informative than just EMI.
5. Use it easily
The calculator needs only a few basic details, and you do not need specialist financial knowledge to use it.
How it helps: makes loan planning easier and more accessible.

What formula is used to calculate bike loan EMI?
To figure out your monthly bike loan payment, you use this formula: EMI = P × R × (1 + R)^N ÷ [(1 + R)^N − 1]. This method breaks down both the amount you borrowed and the interest into the same-sized payments that you'll make each month for the entire loan period.
-
- P is the principal, or the loan amount after your down payment.
- R is the monthly interest rate, which is the annual rate divided by 12 and then by 100.
- N is the total number of monthly instalments in the tenure.
For example, an annual rate of 12% becomes a monthly rate of 1%, or 0.01. Here is the formula applied to a Rs. 1 lakh loan, the same calculation the two-wheeler loan EMI calculator runs for you:
Loan detail
Value
Principal (P)
Rs. 1,00,000
Annual interest rate
12%
Monthly interest rate (R)
0.01
Tenure (N)
36 months
Monthly EMI
Rs. 3,321
Over 36 months, you would repay about Rs. 1,19,572, of which Rs. 19,572 is interest. In the first month, Rs. 1,000 of the EMI is interest (1% of Rs. 1 lakh) and the rest repays principal; the interest share shrinks every month after that. The two-wheeler loan EMI calculator saves you this manual working, though your final EMI may differ slightly with the terms you are approved for.

How is each EMI split between principal and interest?
Each monthly EMI consists of a part paid toward the interest and another toward the principal, and both vary every month. The interest is calculated on the remaining amount, and hence, the beginning EMIs have a higher share of interest payments as opposed to the end EMIs, which mainly consist of the principal.

The EMI stays the same every month, but the interest share falls from Rs. 1,000 in month 1 as the balance reduces, so more of each EMI repays principal. Total interest on this loan is about Rs. 6,620.
Because interest is front-loaded, prepaying in the early months saves you the most; weigh the saving against the prepayment charge. What is the EMI on a Rs. 1 lakh bike loan?
At 12% per annum, the EMI for a Rs. 1 lakh bike loan is about Rs. 4,707 for 24 months, Rs. 3,321 for 36 months or Rs. 2,633 for 48 months. These are indicative EMI estimates, as your actual EMI depends on the rate and tenure you are approved for. Enter your own figures in the two-wheeler loan EMI calculator to check.
What is an affordable EMI for a bike loan?
A common rule of thumb is to keep all your EMIs together within about 40% of your monthly take-home pay, so a single bike EMI should be well below that. On a Rs. 35,000 salary, for example, an EMI of around Rs. 3,500 leaves ample room. Test different tenures on the two-wheeler loan EMI calculator to find your comfortable figure.
Is it better to buy a bike on EMI or pay in full?
Paying in full is cheaper because you pay no interest, but buying on EMI keeps your savings available for emergencies. If paying in full would drain your emergency fund, a short-tenure loan is often the more practical choice. Use the two-wheeler loan EMI calculator to see how much interest the loan would add.
How can you get a lower interest rate on a bike loan?
You can improve your chances of a lower bike loan interest rate by keeping a CIBIL score of 750 or higher, paying existing EMIs on time and reducing outstanding debt. A larger down payment and a shorter tenure also lower the lender's risk. Once you have an offer, recheck your EMI at that rate on the two-wheeler loan EMI calculator.
Will the calculator EMI match your final EMI?
The two-wheeler loan EMI calculator gives an indicative estimate, so your final EMI may differ slightly. Your actual EMI depends on the interest rate, loan amount and tenure Bajaj Finance approves after assessing your profile. Your loan agreement and Key Facts Statement show the exact EMI before you sign.
Does the calculator EMI include processing fees and other charges?
No. The EMI covers principal and interest only. Processing fees, documentation and hypothecation charges and stamp duty are separate and usually collected upfront or deducted from the loan amount, so add them to your estimate to see the full cost of the loan.
Can you use this calculator for an electric scooter loan?
Yes, the two-wheeler loan EMI calculator works the same way for electric scooters and bikes. Enter the on-road price of the EV, your down payment, rate and tenure to see the scooter loan EMI; brand calculators such as the Ather EMI calculator are also available. With 5% GST on EVs, the price is often lower than a comparable petrol model: an electric scooter with an on-road price of Rs. 1.4 lakh, financed in full over 24 months at an illustrative 12% per annum, has an EMI of about Rs. 6,590. Electric two-wheelers are financed subject to the same eligibility checks as other vehicles.
What happens if you miss a bike loan EMI?
If you miss a bike loan EMI, a bounce charge of up to Rs. 600 applies, and a penal charge of 36% per annum is levied on the delayed instalment until it is paid. Missed payments are also reported to credit bureaus, which can lower your CIBIL score. Read more about bike loan EMI delay charges.
Can you change your loan tenure after the loan starts?
You can shorten your remaining tenure by making a part-prepayment and keeping the same EMI. Any other change to the repayment period depends on Bajaj Finance's policy and needs approval, so raise a request through the Bajaj Finance app or customer care. Part-prepayment charges of up to 4.72% may apply.
