What is the Atal Amrit Yojana?
Many households are driven into poverty due to high healthcare expenses. Illnesses, whether chronic, long-term, or sudden, can lead to catastrophic costs with severe consequences. Even lower-middle and middle-class families often struggle to access quality treatment when faced with critical illnesses due to the high costs. To address this vulnerability among the BPL and low-income households in the state, the Government of Assam launched the Atal Amrit Abhiyan health assurance scheme. This initiative provides cashless treatment and critical care coverage, aiming to make healthcare more affordable and mitigate the financial burden of out-of-pocket expenses.
