The HONOR Pad 2 was officially launched in India in October 2016 as an affordable 8-inch budget tablet for everyday users. It was available through authorised HONOR retail outlets and online platforms at launch. Since the HONOR Pad 2 is now permanently discontinued, it is no longer available through any authorised retail platform in India and software support has permanently ended with the final update being Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI 5.

The HONOR Pad 2 was launched in India in October 2016 at a starting price of approximately Rs. 9,890 — positioning it firmly at the budget end of the Android tablet market at launch. Since the HONOR Pad 2 is now discontinued, it is no longer available at this price through any authorised channel.

The HONOR Pad 2 was available in two colour options — Grey and Gold — both featuring a plastic build. It came in two storage configurations: 3 GB RAM with 16 GB storage and 3 GB RAM with 32 GB storage. Both variants supported expandable storage up to 256 GB via a dedicated microSD card slot.

The HONOR Pad 2 comes with 3 GB of RAM — which was a competitive configuration for a budget tablet at its 2016 India launch price of Rs. 9,890, handling everyday browsing, social media, and light multitasking adequately at the time. By 2026 standards, 3 GB RAM is significantly limited for modern app requirements.

The HONOR Pad 2 came in two internal storage options — 16 GB and 32 GB — both with a dedicated microSD card slot supporting expandable storage up to 256 GB. The dedicated microSD slot is a practical inclusion as it does not require giving up any SIM card slot. By 2026 standards, both storage options are very modest for everyday tablet use.

The HONOR Pad 2 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor — an entry-level octa-core chipset built on a 28 nm architecture with four 1.5 GHz and four 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53 cores, paired with the Adreno 405 GPU. This chipset handled everyday browsing, social media, and casual video streaming adequately at its 2016 budget India launch price.

The HONOR Pad 2 features a compact 8-inch IPS LCD display with a WUXGA resolution of 1200 x 1920 pixels and a pixel density of approximately 283 PPI. The display type delivered sharp, clear visuals for everyday browsing, reading, and casual video streaming at its 2016 budget price point. With a 16:10 aspect ratio and a screen-to-body ratio of approximately 72.1%, the HONOR Pad 2 offered a comfortable viewing experience in both portrait and landscape orientations.

The HONOR Pad 2 features an 8MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, autofocus, and LED flash — handling document scanning, casual photography, HDR, and 1080p video recording adequately for a budget tablet. The front camera is a 2MP shooter — suitable for basic video calls and selfies.

The HONOR Pad 2 features a standard 60Hz IPS LCD display refresh rate — which was the universal standard for all budget tablets at its 2016 India launch. While the 60Hz panel is significantly dated by 2026 standards where 90Hz and 120Hz displays are common even in entry-level tablets, the 8-inch WUXGA panel delivered adequate smoothness for everyday browsing and media consumption.
