Released nearly four years apart, the MediaTek Dimensity 1000L and MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Ultra represent different generations of MediaTek's 5G processors. The MediaTek Dimensity 1000L debuted in 2020 on TSMC's 7nm process for smartphones launched exclusively in the Chinese market, while the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Ultra arrived in November 2023 on TSMC's advanced 4nm process for premium 5G smartphones. Although both chipsets support 5G connectivity, the Dimensity 8300 Ultra offers a newer CPU architecture, faster graphics, improved AI performance, and support for the latest memory and storage technologies.
General
The MediaTek Dimensity 1000L and MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Ultra target different smartphone segments. The Dimensity 1000L was introduced for premium Chinese-market 5G smartphones with Cortex-A77 CPU cores and a 7nm manufacturing process. In comparison, the Dimensity 8300 Ultra is designed for premium global smartphones, combining Armv9 CPU cores with a more efficient 4nm process. CPU
Both processors feature octa-core CPU designs, but they belong to different ARM generations. The MediaTek Dimensity 1000L combines four Cortex-A77 performance cores running at up to 2.2GHz with four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores at up to 2.0GHz, delivering reliable performance for gaming and multitasking. The MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Ultra uses one Cortex-A715 core clocked at up to 3.35GHz, three Cortex-A715 cores at up to 3.2GHz, and four Cortex-A510 efficiency cores at up to 2.2GHz. Graphics
The MediaTek Dimensity 1000L integrates the Mali-G77 MC9 GPU, while the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Ultra uses the newer Mali-G615 MC6 GPU. Both are based on Arm's Valhall architecture, but the newer GPU delivers higher graphics performance, improved power efficiency, and better support for modern gaming workloads.
