I've been riding the Hero Xtreme 250R for a while and I'm genuinely satisfied.
Pros
- Performance: up to 70 km/h it stays smooth and comfortable. Cross 70 km/h and the bike comes alive fast, stable and a lot of fun to ride.
- Road presence: standout. People often mistake it for a KTM Duke 250 because of its aggressive styling.
- Mileage: I get around 37-40 km/l in the city and 45-50 km/l on highways when cruising between 80-100 km/h.
- Exhaust sound: after the first service the note becomes deeper and sportier, with a clean, powerful tone.
- Features: the fully digital instrument cluster is excellent, and the built-in navigation (GPS) is a highlight that works really well.
- Headlight: good in normal use and outstanding on dark stretches.
- High speed stability: planted and very confidence inspiring at highway pace.
Cons
- Seat height: I'm 5'5" (165 cm) and manage it comfortably. Riders below 5'4" (163 cm) should test ride first as it may feel a bit tall.
- Brake pads: stock pads are average. Switching to quality aftermarket pads clearly improves braking.
- Vibrations: slight buzz below 60 km/h, but it smooths out above that.
- Engine heat: some warmth in city traffic, which is normal for a 250cc liquid-cooled engine.
Final verdict
If you want a stylish, feature-packed, powerful 250cc with great mileage and strong highway manners, the Hero Xtreme 250R offers excellent value and is among the best in its class.

I’ve fallen for this machine. The styling and proportions are stunning, easily among the best-looking in the 250cc space, and it performs right up there with the top bikes in this class. Hero’s service has been good for me and not heavy on the wallet. The rear suspension could use a bit more refinement, but as a complete package it delivers exactly what a rider wants. A crazy pick in this segment.

I’ve had it for a month with no issues so far, and within a ₹2 lakh budget it feels like one of the best 250cc buys. There are a few small quality niggles, but nothing major. For the power you get at this price, the value is excellent, and performance can even stand against pricier bikes like the KTM Duke 250. The design is a big highlight too, aggressive and premium, so it grabs attention everywhere. People often ask about it and are surprised by the price, a real crowd puller. The only downside for me is mileage; in city traffic I am seeing around 25 km/l, which is a bit low for a 250cc, but it feels worth it for the power, looks, road presence, and overall performance. I’m confident you won’t regret picking this bike.
