Ventricular Assist Devices Cover

A ventricular assist device (VAD) — also known as a mechanical circulatory support device, is a mechanical pump that's used to support heart function and blood flow in individuals with heart illnesses. With Group Care 360 –Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD) cover from Care Health Insurance Co. Ltd., one can avail coverage for surgical procedure to place VAD and pre/post-hospitalisation cost arising due to surgery.

  • What’s covered?

  • Hospitalisation expenses

    Alzheimer’s Disease Cover offers coverage of up to Rs. 3 lakh for expenses on in-patient care, pre-hospitalisation expenses (for up to 30 days), and post-hospitalisation expenses (for up to 60 days).

  • Diagnostic tests

    The plan covers the cost of conducting diagnostic tests before (within the specified pre-hospitalisation period) or during the hospitalisation period.

  • Treatment charges

    Treatment charges covered include hospital room rent and expenses on ICU, transfusions, doctor fees, medicines and tests.

  • Doctor’s fees

    The doctor’s fees before, during and after hospitalisation are covered under the plan.

  • Medication

    Medication

    Expenses on medicines related to hospitalisation are covered.

  • Ambulance expenses

    Ambulance expenses

    The plan covers ambulance expenses of up to Rs. 2,000.

  • Note: The diagnosis must be supported by the clinical confirmation of an appropriate consultant neurologist and company’s appointed doctor. The waiting period for the plan to come into effect is 90 days.

What’s Not Covered?

  • Hospitalization resulting other than Surgery to Place Ventricular Assist Devices or Total Artificial Hearts
  • Hospitalization within first 90 days from policy start date, as the policy has a waiting period of 90 days.
  • Any Pre-existing disease
  • Ventricular dysfunction or Heart failure directly related to alcohol or drug abuse
