A ventricular assist device (VAD) — also known as a mechanical circulatory support device, is a mechanical pump that's used to support heart function and blood flow in individuals with heart illnesses.   • What’s Covered?

  • Hospitalisation Expenses

    Alzheimer’s Disease Cover offers coverage up to Rs. 3 lakh for expenses on in-patient care, pre-hospitalisation expenses (up to 30 days), and post hospitalisation expenses (up to 60 days).

  • Diagnostics test

    The plan covers cost of conducting diagnostics test before (within the specified pre-hospitalization period) or during the hospitalization period.

  • Treatment Charges

    Treatment charges include hospital room rent, ICU, transfusion, doctor fees, medicines and tests.

  • Doctor’s Fees

    Doctor’s fees before, during and after hospitalization are covered under the plan.

  • Medication


    Expenses towards purchase of medicines related to hospitalization.

  • Ambulance expenses

    Ambulance expenses

    The plan covers ambulance expenses up to an amount of Rs. 2,000.

  • Note: The diagnosis must be supported by the clinical confirmation of an appropriate consultant neurologist and supported by the Company’s appointed doctor. The initial waiting period for the plan to come into effect is 90 days.

What’s Not Covered?

  • Hospitalization resulting other than Surgery to Place Ventricular Assist Devices or Total Artificial Hearts
  • Hospitalization within first 90 days from policy start date, as the policy has a waiting period of 90 days.
  • Any Pre-existing disease
  • Ventricular dysfunction or Heart failure directly related to alcohol or drug abuse
