Since life insurance essentially covers you against death, this means that there are certain types of death that will not be covered. The following are the most common types of death not covered by your life insurance policy

Suicide:Death due to suicide within 12 months from date of start of the policy, or date of revival of policy the nominee will be entitled to fund value as available on intimation of death.
• Death due to any substance abuse or illegal / unlawful activities.
Thus, you cannot assume that your nominees will be paid the money no matter what.
