The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Sigma 1.5 MT has been a practical, great value for money option in the mid-size SUV space. Bought in December 2024 and driven 32,000 km over 20 months, it has consistently been a dependable, efficient and comfortable partner for daily commutes and long highway runs. Performance and economy: The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine paired with the 5-speed manual is tuned for smooth, efficient power delivery. On the highway it returns 17 kmpl on regular long trips, while in the city it maintains 14 to 15 kmpl even in heavy bumper to bumper traffic. It is not aimed at aggressive driving, but the linear power makes cruising at speed and urban commuting stress free. Ride and handling: The suspension is a standout, offering a plush, balanced ride that soaks up sharp bumps, potholes and broken roads with ease. At high speeds it feels planted and inspires a lot of confidence, with body roll well contained during quick lane changes. The generous ground clearance provides assurance over uneven terrain and tall speed breakers. Cabin and practicality: Even as the base Sigma variant, the fundamental package is excellent. There is ample legroom and headroom in both rows, keeping long journeys fatigue free. The cabin feels solid and remains rattle free even after 32,000 km of demanding use. NVH is audible inside and is an area that could be improved in the next update.
