What's Covered

    A personal accident insurance takes care of you and your family against unforeseen accidents and even death as per the opted sum insured.

    Personal accident insurance protects you and your loved ones by providing extensive coverage against accidental injuries (PTD).

    Permanent Partial Disability

    If the policyholder sustains an accidental bodily injury that directly and independently of all other causes results in permanent partial disability within twelve months from the date of the accident, then the policyholder is eligible for a payout.

    Temporary Total Disability

    If the policyholder sustains an accidental bodily injury which directly and independently of all other causes results in completely preventing the policyholder from pertaining to their employment or occupation then the policyholder will be paid weekly coverage as opted under “temporary total disability” in the certificate of insurance. The insured will get weekly payments for the disability period as specified by the treating doctor, beginning from the date of the injury subject to a maximum period of 100 weeks.

    With child care cover the insurance gives protection to the surviving beneficiary, as a lump sum coverage amount towards the cost of education or care of the policyholder’s dependent children.

    Parental Care Coverage

    If the policyholder sustains accidental bodily injury which directly and independently of all other causes results in permanent partial disability within twelve months from the date of accident, then the policyholder is eligible for a payout.

What is Not Covered / Exclusions

  • Through suicide, attempted suicide (whether sane and insane) or intentionally self-inflicted injury or illness
  • Treatment for alcoholism, drug or substance abuse or any addictive condition and consequences thereof
  • Through deliberate or intentional, unlawful or criminal act, error, or omission, participation in an actual or attempted felony, riot, crime, misdemeanour, or civil commotion
  • Hazardous or adventure sports: Expenses related to any treatment necessitated due to participation as a professional in hazardous or adventure sports, including but not limited to para-jumping, rock climbing, mountaineering, rafting, motor racing, horse racing or scuba diving, hand gliding, skydiving, or deep-sea diving
  • Whilst participating as the driver, co-driver or passenger of a motor vehicle during motor racing or trial runs 
  • As a result of any curative treatments or interventions that you carry out or have carried out on your body
  • Arising out of your participation in any police, naval, military or air force operations whether in peace or war in the form of military exercises or war games or actual engagement with the enemy 
  • Whether foreign or domestic operating or learning to operate any aircraft, or performing duties as a member of the crew on any aircraft or scheduled airlines 
  • Whilst engaging in aviation or ballooning, mounting into, dismounting from or traveling in any balloon or aircraft other than as a passenger (fare paying or otherwise) in any duly licensed standard type of aircraft anywhere in the world
  • Any pre-existing injuries and complications arising out of or resulting therefrom
  • Your consequential losses of any kind or your actual or alleged legal liability
  • Pregnancy, resulting childbirth, miscarriage, abortion, or complications arising out of any of these
  • Ionising radiation or contamination by radioactivity from any nuclear fuel or from any nuclear waste from burning nuclear fuel
  • The radioactive, toxic, explosive or other dangerous properties of any explosive nuclear equipment or any part of that equipment
  • Operating or learning to operate any aircraft, or performing duties as a member of the crew on any aircraft or scheduled airlines
  • War (whether declared or not), civil war, invasion, act of foreign enemies, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, mutiny, military or usurped power, seizure, capture, arrest, restraint or detainment, confiscation or nationalization or requisition of or damage by or under the order of any government or public local authority
  • Any injury occurring while working in underground mines or explosive magazines, or involving electrical installation with high tension supply or as jockey's circus personnel

Specific exclusions applicable to section “Accidental Hospitalisation Expenses” 

  1. Any hospitalization for an existing disability from a previous accident which has occurred prior to the first inception of this certificate of insurance.
  2. Medical expenses where in-patient care is not warranted and does not require supervision of qualified nursing staff and qualified medical practitioners round the clock. This exclusion is however not applicable for any day care treatment taken for the accidental bodily injury in a day care centre or hospital. 
  3. Vaccination and inoculation of any kind unless forming part of treatment for Injury due to an accident as prescribed by the medical practitioner. 
  4. Dietary supplements and substances which are available naturally and that can be purchased without prescription, including but not limited to vitamins, minerals and organic substances unless prescribed by a medical practitioner.
  5. Cosmetic or plastic surgery: Expenses for cosmetic or plastic surgery or any treatment to change appearance unless as a part of medically necessary treatment. For this to be considered a medical necessity, it must be certified by the attending medical practitioner for reconstruction following an accident, burn(s) or cancer. 
  6. Treatment taken from persons not registered as medical practitioners under respective medical councils. 
  7. Any other medical or surgical treatment except as may be necessary solely as a result of injury. 
  8. Any treatment taken outside India. 
  9. Hazardous or adventure sports: Expenses related to any treatment necessitated due to participation as a professional in hazardous or adventure sports, including but not limited to para-jumping, rock climbing, mountaineering, rafting, motor racing, horse racing or scuba diving, hand gliding, skydiving, or deep-sea diving. 
  10. Dental treatment or surgery of any kind unless as a result of accidental bodily injury to natural teeth and also requiring hospitalization.
  11. Unproven treatments: Expenses related to any unproven treatment, services and supplies for or in connection with any treatment. Unproven treatments are treatments, procedures or supplies that lack significant medical documentation to support their effectiveness.

Pre-existing conditions are not covered
Pre-existing condition means any condition, ailment or injury or related condition(s) for which there were signs or symptoms or were diagnosed, or for which medical advice or treatment was received within 48 months prior to the first policy issued by the insurer and renewed continuously thereafter.
